Here is a breakdown of my book, The Elder Son:

Introduction - In the book I show how mature followers of Christ are similar to the big brother of the prodigal son (Elder Son of Luke 15)

Chapter 1 The Elder Son - In the first chapter I retell the prodigal son story in my own words and then fill in the blanks of what life was like for the elder son and the father while the prodigal son was away.

Chapter 2 Fattening the Calf - In this chapter, I explain how and why elder sons and daughters should be fattening the calf. This is huge in leading prodigals back to their Heavenly Father!

Chapter 3 Love Thy Neighbor - Here I use a scientific approach to explaining how we can let our light shine before men.

Chapter 4 Humility - Pride happens automatically in the absence of humility. Pride is the primary preventer of receiving wisdom from The Lord.

Chapter 5 The Limelight - It's important to know how to keep a good attitude and still display Christian character while in the limelight.

Chapter 6 To The Wealthy - Rarely do the wealthy get to hear a personalized sermon just for them. This chapter is devoted to addressing unique challenges that people of affluence face in they're walk of faith.

Chapter 7 The Pandemic Pause - I wanted to express how the covid 19 pandemic felt like God had pressed pause on everyone's life. I share some bible stories of other times when God pressed pause and what we should do when this occurs.

Chapter 8 Spiritual Maturity - People have a tendency to gauge growth by the wrong benchmarks. In this chapter, I debunk some common benchmarks and list biblical truths for gauging our spiritual growth.

Chapter 9 Our Daily Bread - It's important to receive current words of God for our lives. Here I explain how even the bread of God expires.

Chapter 10 Keep Dreaming - The worst thing a person can do is to reach a goal and not set new ones. Humans were designed to pursue dreams. When we don't have a dream to pursue, it is impossible to be at our best.

Chapter 11 Focus - The power of focus is so important! In this chapter, we examine some of the critical focus robbers and how to defeat them.

Chapter 12 Endurance - Chasing long dreams can be discouraging. This chapter is loaded with strategies for staying motivated for the long haul.

Chapter 13 Such a Time as This - Someone once said that success is a poor teacher. We learn the most from our failures. In this chapter we look at how God has used all the experiences of our lives to get us ready for a season of radical production!
