Don't Hold Back

There are many times in the Bible where God had to nudge people to release their full potential. It is like they had been saving up for a special occasion, but couldn’t bring themselves to release the provisions when the occasion finally arrived. You might also think of athletes who trained long and hard but were a little gun shy when the gun finally went off. Moses needed God to speak through a burning bush. Esther needed Mordecai to tell her that perhaps God had given her everything she had for such a time as this. Perhaps you remember a time when The Lord had to work extra hard to get you engaged.
The 5 foolish bride’s maids of Mathew 25 had money to buy more oil but decided to wait. Consequently, they missed the wedding. They were out shopping when they should have been serving.

Fatal Flaw
Ananias and Sapphira were part of the early church. During this time, everyone was liquidating their assets and pooling their resources together. The couple conspired together to report a lower price for the sale of their possessions than they actually received. Their intent was probably to hold back a little just in case this church thing didn’t work out. Their crime proved to be fatal.

“No man who puts his hand to the plow then looks back is fit for the kingdom of God.”

(Luke 9:62)

“A double minded man is unstable in all of his ways”

(James 1:8)

Opposition
There will always be people opposed to someone else releasing their best stuff. In the parable of the prodigal son, the elder son was outraged when he learned that his father had ordered the fattened calf to be slaughtered upon his brother’s return. Judas Iscariot voiced his detest of Mary pouring an entire alabaster box of perfume on the head of Jesus. David’s brothers told him he was mischievous and prideful when he was just bringing them lunch but felt called by God to take on the giant.
Don’t pay any attention to the naysayers. Just listen for the gun to go off. When it does, be ready to release all that God has been pouring into you. Let God be the regulator. When He calls your number, give him everything you got. He will disperse it as needed. Nehemiah led the Israelites to fortify Jerusalem in only fifty two days! They were able to accomplish this incredible task so quickly because they worked nonstop. When enemies threatened to wage war against them, they worked with a sword in one hand and a hammer in the other. (Nehemiah 4:17) They did not let anything stop them from doing what God assigned them to do.

Conclusion
What has God been getting you ready to do? You may not even know what it is until the proverbial gun goes off. Whatever it is, don’t hesitate and don’t hold back. When David was fighting a lion and a bear, he had no idea that he was training to one day defeat a giant. “Whatever you find to do with your hands, do it with all your might.” (Ecclesiastes 9:10)
