Imagine you are a professional athlete who has just been pulled out of the game by the coach. Your first reaction is probably to be angry at the coach. If you are mature enough to get past that, next you will be down on yourself for messing up. Instead of wasting time being angry at yourself or the coach, you should be spending your time on the bench getting yourself ready to do better next time.
HOW TO WAIT ON THE LORD WHILE ON THE BENCH
1. Hydrate - drink fluids, IV
2. Educate - study pictures or talk to coaches and captains
3. Reinvigorate - rest up, renew your strength and passion
You may not be a professional athlete but I’m sure you can relate to being benched no matter what your calling is. When God is the coach, it doesn’t take very long to realize that if He calls you to the sideline, it is for a good reason. Don’t waste your time being angry at Him or yourself. Focus on how you can get better. Renew your strength.
Isaiah 40:31 - They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength.
Galatians 6:9 - Be not weary in well doing you will reap a harvest if you faint not.
