Corporate Worship
Corporate worship is powerful. Think of the way birds flock together, fish swim in schools, and athletes team up together to run, bike, and even swim in races. Flocking together not only breaks through the wind and current but actually creates momentum. When we flock together for worship, it makes it easier to prevail against the headwinds of doubt and unbelief. Also, we can actually create momentum so that those around us, who have no more strength, can drift in our wake while regaining their strength. You may say, “My faith is high. I don’t need a flock to help me worship.” Don’t forget, being part of the Kingdom of God is not all about what you need. It is about helping others get what they need. Don’t come to corporate worship because of what you need, come to contribute to the cause of Christ.
The Importance of Worship
We gather together to admire God for who He is and what He has done. We also gather together to proclaim our faith in what He has promised to do. During worship, we reset our minds to reverence God above all else. It is where we cast down every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God. It is where we shed off all the negativity of the news, and renew our hearts with the good news, that is the gospel of Jesus Christ. During worship, our spirits are revived. It is where God breathes into our nostrils the breath of life, and we become living souls. When we leave a worship gathering, we have renewed hope for the dreams that He has placed in our hearts. We are ready to tackle giants because we have been reminded of the reason for which we fight. David said, “Is there not a cause!” ( I Samuel 17:29)
